DEER LAKE DISTRICT: Deer Lake Eurasian Water Milfoil Rapid Response Project

Purpose
Deer Lake District is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Rapid Response project to be completed by June 30, 2009. The project will focus on chemically treating approximately 0.25 acres of Eurasian Water Milfoil in Deer Lake. Project activities include: 1) Complete mapping of EWM; 2) Chemically treat approximately 0.25 acres of EWM; 3) Complete a EWM summer and spring treatment assessment survey; 4) Conduct a EWM identification and hand removal training; 5) Volunteer hand removal of EWM following chemical treatment; 6) Prepare Treatment Report. Project deliverables include: 1) Chemical treatment; 2) EWM mapping and assessment surveys; 3) Training of volunteers; 4) Final report describing the findings of the treatment assessment surveys and volunteer hand removal, GPS locations, updated EWM maps, and guidance for continued control actions. Specific conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, Aquatic plant survey data, GPS data and maps.
