Purpose

This project is to do an initial assessment on Point Creek to determine if there are any impairments and if additional data are needed to determine if the creek should be added to the impaired waters list. The timing of this project is excellent because the fisheries folks will be assessing the fish community in Point Creek this summer so this monitoring can be used in conjunction with the fish data to determine the current overall stream health.

Objective

Macroinvertebrate samples will be collected in fall at 3 sites; a continuous temperature probe will be installed for one month in the summer; qualitative habitat surveys will be conducted at 3 sites, and fish survey will be conducted by fisheries staff at 3 sites in summer. All data will be entered in SWIMS and a report generated by June, 2011.

Outcome

Performance Measures: These are milestones that will be reported on in the Division Quarterly Report. Please estimate dates in a manner that encourages success. 1) Number of sample sites associated with the project. 3 2) Number of sampling events associated with project. 2 3) Estimated date when sample collection will be complete. 12/31/2010 4) Estimated date when all data will be entered into appropriate database. 06/30/2011 5) Estimated date when final report will be complete. 06/30/2011
