MARINETTE COUNTY: Sandstone Flowage APM Planning Project

Purpose

Marinette County proposes to complete a comprehensive aquatic plant management plan project for the Association to use in managing Eurasian milfoil and other pland growth in the water body preventing riparian use. This grant project builds upon a previous grant project for Sandstone Flowage. The primary goals for this project is to finish developing, publishing and distributing a comprehensive aquatic plant management plan along with developing a prevention and early detection plan for aquatic invasive species. The scope will include as follows: 1. Gathering and analyzing information on the ecosystem and plant community, 2. Identification of Sandstone Flowage property owner problems and needs. 3. Evaluating alternatives for plant management on the water body to complete a comprehensive aquatic plant management plan to be used for implementation by the Sandstone Flowage Association. 4. A plan for early detection of aquatic invasive species will be include will be included in the plant management plan. 5. Volunteers will be sought and trained to implement the Clean Boats Clean Waters Program on the water body. 6. Marinette County will continue to work with the Sandstone Flowage Association to implement the management plan. Products and deliverables will include a comprehensive aquatic plant management plan. Two hard copies and two electronic copies on CD of all data and the plan will be distributed to the Wisconsin DNR and copies will be distributed to the Sandstone Flowage Association board members.
