Grant Awarded
Polk County Land and Water Resources Department is sponsoring a two-phase project to assess water quality and biological conditions and trends; engage and survey landowners and stakeholders; survey and develop a management plan for aquatic plants; and monitor stormwater. Deliverables include: a report that details results of project components, including nutrient budget and modeling, and aquatic plant and stormwater management plans.
The specific Phase 2 (LPL-1298-09) project tasks include: 1) Early season (i.e. June) and summary point-intercept aquatic plant surveys; 2) Wetland vegetation survey; 3) Aquatic plant management plan development, including public participation/meetings; 4) Stormwater monitoring and lab analyses; 5) Stormwater conveyance system review, mapping, and recommendations; 6) Watershed delineation and lake response modeling.
Special Conditions: 1) CLMN efforts should not be duplicated, and these data should be included in the trends analysis and final reporting; 2) WDNR's Aquatic Plant Management in Wisconsin guidance should be followed for point-intercept survey monitoring and aquatic plant management plan development; 3) Draft public surveys and shoreline inventory methods must be reviewed and approved by the Department before being initiated.
