SHISHEBOGAMA & GUNLOCK LAKE ASSOCIATION, INC: Shishebogama & Gunlock Lake Management Planning Project, Phase 3

Purpose

Shishebogama and Gunlock Lake Association is sponsoring phased large scale lake planning grants to study Shishebogama and Gunlock Lake's in Oneida County with a study completion date of June 30, 2011. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Shishebogama and Gunlock Lake's. Project activities include: 1) Stakeholder participation - kick-off meeting, AIS training, stakeholder survey, planning meetings (up to 2), wrap-up meeting, news release, newsletter article, and progress report; 2) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program; 3) Annual volunteer AIS monitoring; 4) Water quality sampling and analysis (Secchi, P, Chla, DO, temp, N, conductivity, pH, total Alk, total suspended solids, and calcium); 5) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey, analysis and community mapping; 6) Curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) assessment; 7) Fisheries assessment; 8) Watershed assessment and P load modeling; 9) Zebra mussel monitoring; 10) Sensitive area delineation; 11) Develop LMP. Project deliverables for phase 3 include: 1) public participation, news release, newsletter article, and progress report; 2) Lake Management Plan. Specific conditions for this project: Lake Management Plan needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of LMP, news release, newsletter article, progress report, stakeholder survey, PI data, data and modeling from watershed assessment, all maps from project, all GIS data, and a set of aquatic plant vouchers.
