THREE LAKES WATERFRONT ASSOCIATION: Long Lake & Eagle River Management Planning Project, Phase 1

Purpose

Three Lakes Waterfront Association is sponsoring a project to study Long Lake and Eagle River in Oneida County, focusing on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Long Lake and Eagle River and AIS education, prevention and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Stakeholder participation - kick-off meeting, AIS training, stakeholder survey, planning meetings (up to 2), wrap-up meeting, news release, newsletter article, and progress report; 2) Hire 2 AIS coordinators; 3) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program and AIS monitoring; 4) Water quality sampling (secchi, P, Chla, N, conductivity, pH, total Alk, total suspended solids, calcium, DO, and temp); 5) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey, analysis and community mapping; 6) Curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) survey and sensitive area delineation; 7) Fisheries assessment and watershed assessment and P load modeling; 8) Zebra mussel monitoring; 9) Install 3 kiosks and disseminate AIS information at boat landings, resorts, businesses, tournaments, community events, and homeowners on 3 Lakes Chain; 10) Develop LMP, AIS education, prevention and monitoring final report and AIS educational materials (packets, coasters and newsletters. Project deliverables for phase 1 include: 1) Stakeholder survey, news release, newsletter article, and progress report; 2) Kiosks and educational materials; 3) PI, water quality and P modeling data. Specific conditions: 1) Draft stakeholder survey to be submitted to Lakes Management Coordinator for review before sending to public.
