ARCHIBALD LAKE ASSOCIATION: Archibald Lake EWM Treatment & Control Project

Purpose

The Archibald Lake Association proposes to control Eurasian water-milfoil (EWM) in Archibald Lake by implementing control measures during the period 2009 \2013 2012. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Archibald Lake Association\2019s Aquatic Invasive Species Control Grant application, dated August 8, 2009. The project includes conducting pre- and post-treatment surveys and mapping the extent of EWM, including a full lake rake point index survey during EWM peak growing seasons June \2013 August, controlling EWM with aquatic herbicide treatments, continuing and expanding the current CBCW program, continuing to monitor Archibald for invasive species using approved CLMN AIS monitoring protocols, and continuing to take an active role in educating all who use the lake. Annual progress reports and a final report summarizing the three-year project will be provided to DNR. Watercraft inspection records will be entered into the State\2019s online Watercraft Inspection Database. If the consultant is to provide the final report, it is recommended that the Grantee provide the DNR Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR will be provided both paper and electronic PDF copies of the final report along with, or prior to, submission of grantee\2019s final payment request.

Reports and Documents
Eurasian Water Milfoil (EWM) was found in Archibald Lake on June 25th, 2009 during a routine plant survey conducted by Lakeland Biologists and paid for by the Archibald Lake Association. The survey found 18 separate locations/colonies. All locations were within 300 yards of the boat landing. The following is a summary of five year results starting in 8/9/2009. We will summarize each yearÂ’s actions and results showing a map of the EWM locations.
