Purpose

The City of Peshtigo proposes to develop a Comprehensive Aquatic Plant Management (APM) by December 2011, which will focus on native plant protection and prevention, and control of aquatic invasive species (AIS). The project elements and deliverables are specified in the City of Peshtigo\2019s Aquatic Invasive Species Control Grant application, dated July 22, 2009. The project will; conduct a point/intercept survey of the aquatic plant community in Peshtigo Flowage using WDNR aquatic plant survey methodology; determine the extent, distribution and density of Eurasian water-milfoil and any other AIS; prepare and develop an APM Plan consistent with DNR guidelines, including an AIS prevention and control plan; educate lake users of native plant protection and AIS prevention and control measures; and implement the \201CClean Boats, Clean Waters\201D watercraft inspection program. Watercraft inspectors will attend a current \201CClean Boats, Clean Waters\201D training session sponsored by UW-Extension staff. Watercraft inspection records will be entered into the State\2019s online Watercraft Inspection Database. The final report will include the Peshtigo Flowage\2019s Aquatic Plant Management Plan that meets the requirements of Wisconsin Chapter NR198.43(1). If consultant is to provide the final report, it is recommended the Grantee provide the DNR Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to, submission of grantee\2019s final payment request.
