ENTERPRISE LAKE PROTECTION & REHAB DISTRICT: Enterprise Lake AIS Control Project

Purpose

Enterprise Lake P&R District is sponsoring a five year project focusing on EWM and Purple Loosestrife (PL) management, AIS education, prevention and monitoring. The goal is to reduce the treatable EWM to less than 10 acres, have the frequency of EWM being observed at less than 10% of littoral point-intercept (PI) locations within a whole-lake survey and all EWM stands below a density of D=1. Project activities:: 1) Annual EWM chemical treatments; 2) Annual pre/post treatment monitoring and analysis; 3) Project kick-off meeting, wrap-up meeting and AIS training; 4) PL monitoring and control and landing signs; 5) Annual volunteer AIS monitoring and hand removal; 6) Purchase GPS unit for volunteer monitoring; 7) Water quality sampling (P, secchi, chla, DO and temp) and WILMS modeling; 8) CB/CW with volunteers and paid inspector; 9) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept. website; 10) PI aquatic plant survey and community mapping; 11) Annual project reports and final report. Project deliverables: 1) Chemical and beetle control of PL and EWM; 2) Pre/post treatment PI survey, water quality sampling, and modeling data; 3) Hand removal and annual mapping of PL and EWM; 4) Completed entry of inspection and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 5) GPS unit, 2 sets of plant vouchers and 200 hours of annual inspection time; 6) Annual and final reports summarizing project AIS management, future AIS management suggestions, CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring and AIS educational activities Specific Conditions: Annual and final reports need Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, all annual reports, all maps, all GIS, vouchers, and survey data (includes: pre/post treatment, PI, water quality, and modeling).
