LAKE ELLWOOD ASSOCIATION, INC: Lake Ellwood AIS Control Project

Purpose

Lake Ellwood Association is sponsoring a five year project that will focus on EWM management, AIS education, prevention and monitoring. The goal is to reduce the treatable EWM to less than 10 acres, have the frequency of EWM being observed at less than 10% of littoral point-intercept locations within a whole-lake survey and all EWM stands below a density of D=1. Project activities include: 1) Annual chemical treatments of EWM and rusty crayfish control; 2) Annual pre/post treatment monitoring and analysis; 3) Project kick-off meeting, wrap-up meeting and AIS training; 4) Boat landing signs; 5) Annual volunteer AIS monitoring and hand removal; 6) Purchase GPS unit for volunteer monitoring; 7) Annual volunteer CB/CW watercraft inspections; 8) Entry of inspection and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 9) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey and community mapping; 10) Annual and final reports. Project deliverables include: 1) Chemical control of EWM and rusty crayfish removal; 2) Pre/post treatment and PI survey data; 3) Hand removal and annual mapping of EWM; 4) Landing signs and GPS unit; 5) completed entry of inspection and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 6) GPS unit, 2 sets of plant vouchers and 200 hours of annual inspection time; 7) Annual reports and final report summarizing project AIS management, future AIS management suggestions, CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring and AIS educational activities Specific Conditions for this project: Annual and final reports need Dept review/approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, all annual reports, all maps, all GIS, vouchers, and survey data (includes: pre/post treatment and PI).
