Purpose
Oconto County is sponsoring a project to conduct baseline water quality monitoring to create a lake management plan for Crooked Lake in Oconto County.
Project final deliverables include: all data collected during the project period including water quality results and PI data, updated bathymetric maps, and final management plan for Crooked Lake.
Specific project activities include: 1) conduct water quality monitoring between June-September for nutrients and algae, temperature and DO profiles, and water clarity; 2) create updated bathymetric maps using GPS-enabled depth finder; 3) conduct shoreland surveys to document conditions of nearshore habitat, and provide landowners information on improving shoreline conditions at their property; 4) conduct aquatic plant surveys to document the plant community health; 5) create a comprehensive lake management plan that combines the data collected during the project to determine management goals and activities.
Special Conditions: Point Intercept surveys shall be conducted according to: Baseline Monitoring of Aquatic Plants in Wisconsin: Sampling Design, Field and Laboratory Procedures, Data Entry and Analysis Lakes, Publication number PUB-SS-1068 2010. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive an electronic .pdf copy of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
