WATERWAYS ASSOC. MENOMINEE & SHAWANO CTY: Moshawquit Lake Updated Aquatic Plant Management Plan

Purpose

The Waterways Association of Menominee and Shawano Counties (WAMSCO) is sponsoring a project to update the Aquatic Plant Management Plan (APM) for Moshawquit Lake. Deliverables: all data from point intercept (PI) surveys and associated maps, Eurasian water milfoil (EWM) bed survey data and maps, sub-PI pre- and post-treatment results in 2024, materials presented at public planning meeting, and final APM for Moshawquit Lake. Activities: 1) 2023 and 2024 whole-lake PI surveys; 2) EWM bed survey to delineate bed location, density, size, and average depth; 3) pre- and post- treatment sub-PI survey in 2024 if herbicide treatment is needed and permitted; 4) Healthy Lakes site visits at 5 properties on Moshawquit Lake for planning purposes; 5) at least 2 meetings in fall 2023 including a public planning meeting to determine plant management goals and educate participants, and follow-up meeting discussing results of the planning meeting; 6) final APM Plan written by consultant for Moshawquit Lake that includes descriptions of historical actions, current management objectives, plant survey results, and public comments on the plan. Special Conditions: PI surveys shall be conducted according to: Baseline Monitoring of Aquatic Plants in Wisconsin: Sampling Design, Field and Laboratory Procedures, Data Entry and Analysis Lakes, Publication number PUB-SS-1068 2010. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy before making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive an electronic .pdf copy of the final report along with, or before submission of grantee's final payment request. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
