ALMA-MOON LAKE P & R DISTRICT: Alma/Moon Lake Shoreland Restoration & GIS Mapping and Planning Project

Purpose

The Alma/Moon Lake P&R District is sponsoring an LPL grant to study Alma and Moon Lakes, Vilas County, with a study completion date of December 2023. The project will focus on surveying the shoreland and coarse wood, identifying near shore critical habitat and developing restoration and protection areas. Project final deliverables include: 1) Data from shoreland survey; 2) Identified critical habitat areas; 3) GIS maps; 4) Community activities; 5) Final report. Specific project activities include: 1) Conduct shoreland survey following the WDNR Lake Shoreland and Shallows Habitat Monitoring Protocol; 2) Develop GIS based summary maps; 3) Identify critical habitat areas; 4) Lake Community Communication/Education/Implementation activities; 5) Develop a final report that includes restoration and protection recommendations. Special Conditions: Draft final report needs WDNR review and approval. WDNR Lake Biologist will be provided with an electronic copy of report; all data; all maps and GIS data from project. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
