Purpose
Lakeshore Natural Resources Partnership is sponsoring a project that will work towards restoration of the brook trout population in Stony Brook through a Trout in the Classroom initiative and expand community outreach efforts by Friends of Stony Brook. Project final deliverables include: 1) A mission and vision statement and strategic plan for Friends of Stony Brook, outlined in a formal plan of long-term goals; 2) website and social media accounts to improve outreach and communication with the community; 3) newsletter sent to residents to provide updates on activities; 4) drone footage to be published on the website; 5) A final summary report of the overall project activities. Specific project activities include: 1) Continue development of a steering committee for the Friends of Stony Brook; 2) continue the strategic planning process to develop a mission statement and plans for easements, stream bank restoration, and land use improvements; 3) further develop a website and social media accounts to document activities in the Stony Brook watershed and promote future events; 4) host field days to demonstrate stream restoration efforts and release brook trout raised by Trout in the Classroom students; 5) take drone footage at the Hahn property and aerial views of the stream to be used in media efforts to create an educational video of the Stony Brook system. The Grantee shall provide the DNR Lake Coordinator a draft report for comment prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR is to receive an electronic .pdf copy of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Stream Biologist.
