FRIENDS OF LONE STONE LAKE INC: Lone Stone Lake Aquatic Invasive Species Control Grant

Purpose

The Friends of Lone Stone Lake (FOLS) is sponsoring a project to implement approved activities from their aquatic plant management plan. This will include Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) control, milfoil monitoring, watercraft inspections, and water quality monitoring. Project final deliverables include: 1) Water quality data in SWIMS; 2) EWM management and required permit reporting (DASH records); 3) Data from EWM and AIS surveys; 4) Watercraft inspection results in SWIMS; 5) Annual and final AIS monitoring and control strategy reports. 6) Updated membership directory. Specific project activities include: 1. Sample water quality; 2. EWM control with diver assisted suction harvest (DASH) and hand pulling; 3. EWM bed mapping surveys and volunteer AIS surveys; 4. Watercraft inspections and associated data entry (following the Clean Boats, Clean Waters protocols); 5. Update directory of Association members and nearby property owners into an electronic database. Special Conditions: DNR is to receive copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request. It is recommended that Grantee provide the DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft of the final report for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. It is strongly recommended that an annual management strategy meeting be held each winter with DNR to discuss EWM management for the next year before aquatic plant management permit applications are submitted. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
