NORTH & SOUTH TWIN LAKES P & R DISTRICT: 2023 North & South Twin Lakes EWM Monitoring & IPM Program

Purpose

This Grant proposes to continue management efforts utilizing Herbicide and DASH harvesting. Project final deliverables include: 1) EWM management and required permit reporting (DASH and herbicide treatment records); 2) Data from EWM and aquatic plant surveys; 3) Herbicide concentration results in SWIMS; 4) Annual and final AIS monitoring and control strategy reports. Specific project activities include: 1) Conduct Pretreatment and refinement surveys 2) Conduct quantitative monitoring using sub-PI 3) District volunteers would collect herbicide concentration monitoring, and send samples to EPL Lab 4) The professional hand-harvesting (includes DASH as appropriate) 5) Conduct qualitative monitoring through a Late-Season Professional EWM Mapping survey. 6) Conduct annual meetings and reporting 7) Conduct Strategic Planning Committee Teleconference and/or discussions following grant acceptance and prior to herbicide treatment. Special Conditions: DNR is to receive copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request. It is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft of the final report for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. It is strongly recommended that an annual management strategy meeting be held each winter with DNR to discuss EWM management for the next year before aquatic plant management permit applications are submitted. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
