Purpose
A continuation of trial EWM treatments to addresses large and dense EWM locations in high traffic areas, with nuisance conditions being documented the past few years. The lessons learned during 2022 are being used to guide this phase of the project through a planned grant submission.
Project final deliverables include:
1) EWM management and required permit reporting (herbicide treatment records);
2) Data from EWM and aquatic plant surveys;
3) Herbicide concentration results in SWIMS;
4) Annual and final AIS monitoring and control strategy reports.
Specific project activities include:
1) Conduct Pretreatment and refinement surveys
2) Conduct quantitative monitoring of the 2022 herbicide treatment (Gator Bay basin-wide) using sub-PI
3) LNLD volunteers would collect herbicide concentration monitoring, and send samples to EPL Lab
4) Conduct qualitative monitoring through a Late-Season Professional EWM Mapping survey.
5) Create annual project reports.
Special Conditions: DNR is to receive copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request. It is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft of the final report for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant.
It is strongly recommended that an annual management strategy meeting be held each winter with DNR to discuss EWM management for the next year before aquatic plant management permit applications are submitted.
This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
