Purpose
Balsam Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District is requesting funding to acquire and maintain a CD3 boat decontamination station for the East Balsam boat launch. The goal of this unit would be to prevent the spread of AIS already found in Balsam Lake (zebra mussel, curly leafed pondweed, Chinese mystery snails and narrow-leafed cattail) to surrounding waterbodies.
Project final deliverables include:
1. Documentation of installation and location of the CD3 unit and maintenance logs.
2. Monthly monitoring and disposal of debris removed from watercraft
3. Continuous monitoring of CD3 unit use and performance.
Specific project activities include:
Installation and maintenance of a CD3 unit on East Balsam boat launch
Special Conditions:
1. Documentation of CD3 station installation
2. Grantee must enter into a recorded land use agreement with the property owner
3. 200 hours of watercraft inspection time is required during the tenure of this project (being funded with grant number CBCW129823)
4. Final report needs DNR review and approval
5. DNR will be provided electronic copies of boater survey and final report.
