NORTH & SOUTH TWIN LAKES RIPARIAN ASSN: North & South Twin Lakes AIS Control & Prevention Project, 2.0

Purpose

The North and South Twin Lakes Riparian Association (NSTLRA) is sponsoring an AIS ACEI grant on North and South Twin Lakes in Vilas County. This is the second ACEI grant encumbered, funding years 3 and 4, as part of a four year project that will focus on EWM management, and AIS education, prevention and monitoring. The goal is to reduce the treatable EWM to less than 10 acres. This will allow NSTLRA to continue management of AIS with minimal state assistance. Project activities include: 1) Annual chemical treatments of EWM and residual monitoring; 2) Hand removal by divers of EWM as an experimental EWM control technique; 3) Annual Pre and Post treatment monitoring and analysis; 4) Annual volunteer AIS monitoring, innovative signage improvements and an AIS pamphlet distribution; 5) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program; 6) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 7) Develop annual project report and a final report. Project deliverables include: 1) Chemical and hand removal control of EWM; 2) Pre and post treatment survey and residual monitoring data; 3) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 4) AIS educational, prevention and monitoring activities; 5) Final report summarizing EWM management during project and future EWM management suggestions, CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring and AIS educational activities Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, all annual reports, pre and post treatment survey data, photographs of signage improvements, and samples of educational and outreach products.
