TOWN OF NEWBOLD: Education/Prevention: Watercraft Inspection & Shoreline Inspection, Rapid Response & Education

Purpose

The Town of Newbold is sponsoring an AIS EPP grant on Two Sisters Lake, Oneida County. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at town landing; 2) Hire CB/CW coordinator; 3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines (two Adopt-A-Shoreline sweeps); 4) Maintain zebra mussel and rusty crayfish monitoring stations; 5) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 6) Purchase high pressure washer and develop boat washing station; 7) Disseminate AIS information at boat landings, public areas, and businesses and through newsletter articles. Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 2) Hired coordinator; 3) High pressure washer; 4) AIS educational materials; 5) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and AIS educational activities. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, newsletters and samples of AIS educational materials.
