Return to Search
Purpose
Long-term trend wadeable reference streams. Long-term monitoring of 42 least disturbed reference trend sites. These additional sites will be monitored on a yearly basis and will be selected from the suite of "reference sites" monitored in 2008 or 2009 and include two sites in each of the following stream classes: cold/cold-cool headwaters,cold/cold-cool mainstem, warm/warm-cool headwaters, warm/warm-cool mainsteam. Long-term variation in biological indices over time at reference sites to understand natural variation and broad scale impacts of climatic extreme events on biologic communities.
Objective
Regionally based reference sites provide trend data for biologic indices. Data are used to refine expectations and understand to local impacts of extreme weather events.
