BURNETT COUNTY LAND CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT: Big McGraw Yellow Flag Iris EDRR Project

Purpose

The Burnett County Land and Water Conservation Department is sponsoring the Big McGraw Yellow Flag Iris EDRR Project. Final deliverables: 1) PDF map of project area, and species extent. 2) Initiate control on all Yellow Flag Iris populations and achieve (>75%) reduction by final year of grant period. 3) Restoration demo site developed with before, and after photos. 4) Attendance List, and copies of outreach materials submitted with final report. 5) Final report outlining areas controlled, and recommendation for moving forward. Project activities include: 1) Early Detection Monitoring on Big McGraw Lake. 2) Management of Yellow Flag Iris populations (manual cutting, digging, and targeted herbicide applications) 3) Develop a designated demo site for plant restoration. 4) Follow-up surveillance, and mapping of project area to determine management success. 5) Burnett County will provide education workshop opportunity at Big McGraw Landing on Yellow Flag Iris identification, and education. Special Conditions: 1) All data shall be entered into the SWIMS database 2) Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by regional AIS Biologist.
