SQUASH LAKE PROTECTION & REHABILITATION DIST: Squash Lake Oneida County AIS Control 2024-2026

Purpose

The Squash Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District is sponsoring a project. This project is to maintain control over EWM's presence in the lake so that it remains below nuisance levels, and to minimize or contain spread of EWM to other parts of the lake. Activities: An Early-Season AIS (ESAIS) survey, Diver hand-harvesting activities are completed, a Late-Season EWM Peak-Biomass (PB) mapping survey would be conducted to evaluate the control activities, understand the EWM population lake-wide, and guide further management, as well as set preliminary priorities for the following year. Deliverables: The annual AIS Monitoring and Control Strategy Assessment Report. Report would be produced and sent out in Adobe\2019s Portable Document Format (PDF) via email that would describe the activities that took place over that growing season and their effectiveness through comparing maps of pre- (ESAIS) and post (EWM PB) surveys. Aquatic plant data would be summarized and compared to previous surveys in several ways within the final report. Conditions: This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps, and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR in electronic format and in any other format they specify. Conduct annual meetings with DNR Biologist to discuss. If a consultant provides a final report, it is recommended that the Grantee provide the DNR a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making a final payment to the consultant. Include electronic copy of the final report along with or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
