ADAMS COUNTY: Wolosek Landscaping Phragmites Early Detection and Response Adams County

Purpose

The Adams County Land and Water Conservation Department is sponsoring a project to remove a 0.8-acre population of NR40 Prohibited Non-native Phragmites located on private property in the Township of Leola, WI. Activities: 1) Mechanical removal of phragmites biomass prior to herbicide treatment in Summer 2024 and Summer 2025 (if needed) 2) Mid- and Late-Summer herbicide treatments in 2024 and 2025 3) Re-seeding of treatment area with native wetland seed mix in Winters 2025/2026/2027 4) Annual monitoring (2025-2027) of non-native phragmites regrowth and native planting progress 5) Follow-up targeted herbicide application utilizing backpack sprayers in 2026 through 2027 (as needed) Deliverables: 1) Removal (or significant reduction in size) of 0.8-acre non-native phragmites population 2) Re-establishment of native wetland vegetation at treatment site 3) Annual Progress Reports \2013 summary of activities conducted, monitoring efforts, and progress of control (including maps/photos) 4) Final Report \2013 summary of success of control project including before/after photos, maps, and future needs for control or monitoring 5) Contractor invoices and time logs for county staff hours Conditions: 1) All data shall be entered into the SWIMS Database This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify. If a consultant provides a final report, it is recommended that the Grantee provide the DNR Biologist with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making a final payment to the consultant. Include electronic copy of the final report along with or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
