Return to Search
Purpose
The Burke Center for Freshwater Innovation, Northland College is sponsoring a project to investigate the invasion of Eurasian watermilfoil on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. Activities: 1) Point Intercept Survey throughout the \201CQuiet Zone\201D of the Turtle Flambeau Flowage repeating the 190mpts sampling. 2) 6 Sub-Point Intercept Survey throughout Turtle Flambeau Flowage. 3) Water level monitoring at 4 locations. 4) Development of final report summarizing & interpreting all data collected including Point Intercept data and water level monitoring. Deliverables: 1) Point Intercept data for the 190mpts \201CQuiet Zone\201D 2) Point Intercept data for the 6 Sub-Point Intercept surveys throughout Turtle Flambeau Flowage. 3) Data set for water level monitoring incorporated within the final report 4) Final report summarizing and interpreting all data collected including Point Intercept data and water level monitoring. Conditions: 1) Point intercept surveys shall follow Recommended Baseline Monitoring of Aquatic Plants in Wisconsin: Sampling Design, Field and Laboratory Procedures, Data Entry and Analysis, and Applications, publication number PUB-SS-1068. Submit electronic point intercept data to this email address: DNRBaselineAquaticPlants@wisconsin.gov 2) Lake-wide point intercept surveys to be conducted between July 1 and August 31 3) All monitoring shall follow DNR protocols. 4) Notify DNR AIS Biologist of any new detection of an AIS. 5) Water level monitoring needs to be in the same datum as water level measurements at the Turtle Flambeau Dam. This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps, and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify. Include electronic copy of the final report along with or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request
