
Purpose
Washington County is sponsoring a project to develop elements of Comprehensive Lake Management Plans for Little Cedar Lake, Friess Lake and Pike Lake.
Activities: 1) TSI Monitoring and Ambient Profile data will be collected 4 times a year for each lake; 2) Shoreline habitat disturbance survey will be conducted on each lake; 3) Septic system data will be compiled for each lake; 4) existing point intercept data for Pike Lake will be analyzed; 5) PRESTO models will be developed for each lake; 6) Boat counts will be completed for each lake and 7) a lake user survey will be developed; data compiled will be given to each lake.
Deliverables: 1) Analysis of TSI and profile data; 2) Maps illustrating shoreline habitat disturbance survey results; 3) List of potentially failing or unmaintained septic systems; 4) Plant distribution maps and comparison tables for existing Pike Lake point intercept data; 5) discussion of PRESTO model results; 6) analysis of boat counts for each lake; and 7) results and analysis of each lake user survey.
Conditions: 1) Enter data collected into SWIMS database under the grant project number; 2) Draft user survey questions to be reviewed and approved by DNR Social Scientist before distribution or use; 3) Provide DNR Biologist with draft versions of the management plans for review.
