CALLAHAN LAKE PROTECTIVE ASSOCIATION, INC: 2025-26 Callahan and Mud Lakes EWM Management Project

Purpose

Callahan-Mud Lake Protective Assoc is sponsoring a project to implement Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) management activities from their aquatic plant management plan, conduct water quality sampling and point-intercept aquatic plant (PI) surveys in both lakes. Activities: 1) Conduct planning and stakeholder meetings 2) EWM management-herbicide treatment & DASH removal 3) Pre/post treatment EWM bed mapping 4) Herbicide concentration monitoring & analysis 5) Conduct water quality sampling (Secchi depth, temperature/dissolved oxygen profile, total phosphorus, chlorophyll-a) for 2025 & 2026 in both lakes 6) Conduct two (one in Callahan and one in Mud) whole lake aquatic PI surveys between July 1 and August 31 Deliverables: 1) EWM management and permit reporting (treatment records) 2) Data from all aquatic plant surveys and water quality monitoring 3) Herbicide concentration results in SWIMS 4) Annual and final EWM management and monitoring report Conditions: 1) All monitoring shall follow WDNR protocols 2) WDNR Lake Biologist will be provided with an electronic copy of reports, data (Excel) from monitoring and surveys, and all maps and GIS datafiles from project 3) Conduct annual meeting with WDNR Biologist to discuss EWM management for the next year before aquatic plant management permit applications are submitted 4) Enter data collected into SWIMS database under the grant project number 5) WDNR Lake Biologist will be invited to management planning meetings This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR in electronic format and in any other format they specify. If a consultant provides a final report, it is recommended the Grantee provide the DNR a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making a final payment to the consultant.
