
Purpose
The Des Moines Lake Association is sponsoring a project to educate public boaters through the use of a Boat Landing Invasive Management System (BLIMS) at intersection of Des Moines and Long Lakes.
Activities: 1) Development and Installation of BLIMS unit; 2) Testing and Configuration of BLIMS; 3) AIS Education through use of BLIMS to increase AIS prevention practices; 4) Reporting through use of CBCW outreach.
Deliverables: 1) Documentation of BLIMS development and installation; 2) Educational Awareness of BLIMS; 3) Report boater use of state and county Best Management Practice (BMP); 4) Education and outreach on AIS prevention activities.
Conditions:
1) Enter data collected into SWIMS database under the grant project number AEPP81525.
2) Complete any required local permitting prior to installation.
3) Provide recorded land use agreement between Grantee and the property owner before installation of unit to DNR Biologist.
4) Upon installation, provide date of installation and photo of BLIMS to DNR Biologist.
5) Provide maintenance plan for unit to DNR Biologist.
6) Signage must be reviewed and approved by the DNR Biologist prior to the printing and installation of the sign.
7) All outreach and education materials shall use DNR messaging; DNR Biologist review and approval is required before dissemination.
8) Participation in Clean Boats, Clean Waters (CBCW) for 200 hours per year for duration of grant.
