BIG DOCTOR LAKE ASSOCIATION: LMI-Big Doctor Lake Alum Application (2)

Purpose

The Big Doctor Lake Association is sponsoring an alum treatment project (second treatment in series of three) for Big Doctor Lake to reduce phosphorus loading from in-lake sediments, with an ultimate goal of improving water quality (measured by Secchi depth, and in-lake TP and Chlorophyll a) and removing Big Doctor from the Impaired Waters List after the treatment series completion. Activities: 1) Alum treatment in Big Doctor Lake with monitoring necessary for adaptive management approach; 2) Healthy Lakes Program best management practices installation on 60% of the waterfront parcels on Big Doctor Lake; 3) Continued monitoring and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant effluent for low phosphorus concentration. Deliverables: 1) Final report documenting the alum treatment that includes monitoring and dosage data for all days; 2) Healthy Lakes best management practices documentation and summary report. Conditions: 1) Alum treatment shall follow conditions in WDNR wastewater permit; 2) All monitoring shall follow WDNR protocols; 3) WDNR Lake Biologist will be provided with an electronic copy of reports, data from monitoring and surveys, and all maps and GIS datafiles from project; 4) Enter data collected into SWIMS database under the grant project number; This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
