WATERWAYS ASSOC. MENOMINEE & SHAWANO CTY: RES - Gibson Island Restoration Phase One

Purpose

The Waterways Association of Menominee and Shawano Counties (WAMSCO) is sponsoring Phase 1 of the Gibson Island Restoration Project. Activities: 1) Level the current ice heaves of Gibson Island. 2) Cut leaning trees to be used as tree drops. 3) Place additional fish sticks along isthmus. 4) Install riprap per ACOE specs identified in grant application materials Deliverables: 1) Isthmus will no longer have visible land heaves from ice shoves. 2) No soil will enter the lake from the isthmus. 3) Will produce littoral zone wildlife habitat Conditions: 1) ACOE riprap specs identified in the application materials will be utilized. 2) Enter into land use agreements for lands restored utilizing grant funds or funds used as match to the project to ensure land remains in conservation per NR 193.52(3). Restoration projects require land to be maintained for 20-year period through a land use agreement recorded at the County Register of Deeds office. This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks and/or deliverables described therein. Data, reports, surveys, and supporting information, including photos, maps and GIS data, must be submitted to the DNR Biologist in electronic format and in any other format they specify.
