FRIENDS OF LAKE MOHAWKSIN: Lake Mohawksin AIS Control & Prevention Project, Phase 2

Purpose
Friends of Lake Mohawksin is sponsoring an AIS control project on Lake Mohawksin with project partner Wisc. Public Service & Packaging Corporation of America. This is the second phase (years 3 and 4) of a four year project focusing on EWM management, AIS education, prevention and monitoring. The goal is to reduce the treatable EWM to less than 50 acres and have a density rating below D=1. Activities include: 1) Annual chemical treatments of EWM; 2) Volunteer hand removal of isolated EWM plants; 3) Annual Pre and Post treatment monitoring and analysis; 4) Kick-off meeting, volunteer AIS training and attendance at sport show; 5) Annual volunteer monitoring and residual monitoring; 6) Purple Loosestrife (PL) control program; 7) Recruit volunteers and expand current CB/CW program; 8) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 9) Point-intercept aquatic plant survey and 1 set of voucher specimens; 10) Develop annual project report and a final report. Deliverables include: 1) Chemical and hand removal control of EWM; 2) Pre and post treatment survey data; 3) PL control; 4) Completed entry of inspection 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website; 5) Aquatic plant survey data and 1 set of vouchers; 6) AIS educational, prevention and monitoring activities; 7) A minimum of 100 volunteer hours of monitoring and 400 hours of CB/CW; 8) Annual reports and final report summarizing EWM management during project and future EWM management suggestions, CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring and AIS educational activities. Specific Conditions: Annual reports and final report need Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, all annual reports, pre and post treatment survey data, point-intercept data, set of vouchers, and samples of educational and outreach products.
