Purpose
This is a Nutrient Baseline Monitoring effort to collect nutrient samples on Spring Brook Creek and Blackhawk Creek. The effort was initiated by Rock County LCD. They wanted to collect some baseline water quality samples prior to the 5200 cow dairy applying the first round of liquid manure. The facility will have 390days of storgae and a herd that will gnerate approximately 74 million gallons of manure annually.
Samples will be collected twice a month for (June, July, August, September, March, April, May) Once a month for October, November, and December). Samples will be preserved and mailed to SLOH for analysis. Objective
Project Justification: Why is the project necessary and what management question is to be addressed?
This is a grass roots effort that has been initiated by Anne Miller and Rock County LCD. This effort will collect "PRE" water quality nutrient samples prior to the application of 73.6 million gallons of Liquid Manure from a 5200 cow dairy that will go in in 2011. The facility will be a permitted facility and will spread the first amount of liquid manure in the fall of 2011. The two stations for the monitoring will be Spring Brook Creek (791300) and Blackhawk Creek (797000). Anne Miller will be the CBSM Volunteer collecting the water chemistry samples for 2011-12. I will train Anne if we are successful in getting funding for the project.
Outcome
Performance Measures: These are milestones that will be reported on in the Division Quarterly Report. Please estimate dates in a manner that encourages success. 1) Number of sample sites associated with the project. 2) Number of sampling events associated with project. 3) Estimated date when sample collection will be complete. 4) Estimated date when all data will be entered into appropriate database. 5) Estimated date when final report will be complete.
