MARGARET LAKE ASSOC: Margaret Lake Stewardship Program, Phase 2

Purpose

Margaret Lake Association is sponsoring phased large scale lake planning project to study Margaret Lake, in Oneida County. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Margaret Lake. Phases 1 and 2 were funded with the Feb 1, 2011 grant cycle and Phase 3 will be submitted for funding consideration with the Aug 1, 2011 grant cycle. Phase 2 project activities include: 1) Rare species and water quality assessment; 2) Volunteer frog and toad monitoring and angler\2019s journal program; 3) Document the littoral zone and riparian area condition using digital photography; 4) Qualitatively document the littoral zone and riparian area using a volunteer-based rapid assessment technique; 5) Quantitatively document the littoral zone and riparian area using the USEPA Lake Assessment Procedure along with the WDNR Supplemental Lakeshore Assessment; 6) Educational program \2013 stakeholder survey, meetings, newsletter articles, and press releases; Project deliverables include: 1) Rare species, water quality, frog and toad, and angler\2019s journal data; 2) An electronic, image-based waterfront archive that presents geographic data, digital photographic documentation and qualitative assessment; 3) Report of the USEPA and WDNR quantitative assessment; 4) Education materials and stakeholder survey. Specific conditions for this project: 1) Draft of stakeholder survey needs to be submitted to Lakes Management Coordinator for review and approval before sending to public; 2) Project summaries and reports need Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of reports, stakeholder survey and image-based waterfront archive, rare species, water quality, frog and toad, and angler data, all maps from project, and all GIS data.
