Baird Creek Partnership for TMDL Effectiveness Monitoring (USGS # 9KP42)

Purpose

In-stream water-quality parameters (nutrients and suspended solids) will be monitored. The overall objective of this monitoring is to compare daily phosphorus and suspended solids loads for each watershed. Measured loads will be compared with those modeled by the University of Wisconsin Green Bay (UWGB). Monitor progress on stream restoration. Data to be used to assess water quality for Integrated Reporting Process.

Objective

The USGS/WDNR Baird Creek project supports work done by UW-GB and Baird Creek Preservation Foundation. Since 2003 we have had continuous flow and water quality data collected on this creek. This data is essential in determining trend data. A lot of implementation practices are being put in along the stream corridor and with the flow and water quality data we are able to calculate continuous daily loads (we can’t say this in many places of the state). It will be interesting to see how the implementation of stormwater and nonpoint source best management practices over the next few years impact loads to Baird Creek.
