SAND LAKE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT: Sand Lake Comprehensive Management Planning Project

Purpose

Sand Lake Management District is sponsoring a project to assess In-lake, tributary, & ground water quality conditions; determine nutrient budget, loads, and model lake response; conduct paleocore and internal loading analyses; monitor precipitation and lake level; conduct agriculture BMP planning and shoreline restoration design; coordinate stakeholder participation and planning; develop a lake management plan including public participation/meetings. The final deliverables include agendas or attendance lists for planning meetings, and a single lake management plan that includes methodologies, results, and management alternatives discussion with an implementation plan. Interim deliverables include progress reports that include maps, spreadsheets, and other data collected. The specific project tasks include: 1)In-lake, tributary, & ground water quality monitoring; 2) Precipitation & Lake Level monitoring; 3) Water & Nutrient budget analysis; 4) Top/bottom paleocore; 5) Internal loading analysis; 6) Shoreline restoration site design; 7) Agriculture BMP planning; 8) Develop Lake Management plan including public participation/meetings. Special Conditions: CLMN efforts should not be duplicated, and these data shall be included in the trends analysis and final reporting. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Coordinator.
