ROUND TRADE LAKE IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION: Round Trade Lakes 3-Year Aquatic Invasive Species Control Project

Purpose

Round Trade Lake Improvement Association is sponsoring a 3-year project to implement approved activities from the Round Trade Lakes Aquatic Plant Management Plan. Approved activities include EWM control in Big and Little Trade, Long Trade, and Round Lakes; pre/post treatment aquatic plant surveys and bed mapping in all 4 lakes; purple loosestrife and Japanese knotweed monitoring and control; watercraft inspection; AIS monitoring; various information and education activities; and annual reporting. Deliverables include GIS maps of areas monitored; aquatic plant survey results (spreadsheets and narrative summary); I & E materials and progress report; CBCW data entry; and a management/treatment summary. Special Condition: WDNR\2019s pre/post treatment monitoring guideline should be followed. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Coordinator.

Reports and Documents
Long Trade Lake has an area of 150 acres, a maximum depth of 13 ft, and a mean depth of 8 ft. On 6 June 2013, 16 areas totaling 9.3 acres, and averaging 0.58 acres (Figure 1) were treated with a liquid formulation of endothall (Aquathol K) to control curly-leaf pondweed (Potamogeton crispus). The endothall was applied at a target concentration of 2000 ug/L (2 mg/L) active ingredient (ai). Endothall application rates are specified as active ingredient (ai) in the product label, while endothall chemical analysis concentrations are specified as acid equivalent (ae). A concentration of 2000 ug/L ai is equal to 1419 ug/L ae. A lake wide endothall concentration was calculate to be 18 ug/L ae assuming complete lake wide dissipation and mixing.
Initial expectations were to treat 16 beds totaling 9.31 acres with Endothall (Aquathol K) at a concentration of 2ppm and 9 beds totaling 5.24 acres with liquid 2, 4-D (Navigate) at a concentration of 3 ppm (Table 1). Following the pretreatment survey at 159 points, it was decided to maintain all treatment areas as initially proposed,
