BIG BEARSKIN LAKE ASSOCIATION: Bearskin Lake Stewardship Program Phase 1

Purpose

Big Bearskin Lake Association is sponsoring phased large scale lake planning grants to study Bearskin Lake, in Oneida County. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Bearskin Lake. Phase 2 will be submitted for funding during the Feb 1, 2012 grant cycle. Phase 1 project activities include: 1) Gather and assess existing Bearskin Lake info; 2) Point Intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey, community and substrate mapping and analysis; 3) Watershed assessment and water quality sampling; 4) Rusty Crayfish assessment and removal; 5) Rare species assessment; 6) Educational program \2013 stakeholder survey, meetings, newsletter articles, and press releases. Project deliverables include: 1) PI, water quality, rusty crayfish, and watershed data; 2) Aquatic plant community and substrate maps; 3) Aquatic plant vouchers; 4) Education materials. Specific conditions for this project: Project summaries and reports need Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of reports, PI, water quality, watershed, and rusty crayfish data, a set of aquatic plant vouchers, all maps from project, and all GIS data.
