Purpose

The Long Lake Preservation and Rehabilitation District is sponsoring an AIS project which includes continued CB/CW inspection/education program; AIS training, lake monitoring, pre and post CLP treatment survey, turion monitoring, and a point intercept aquatic plant study. Data collected will be used to update the APM Plan. Deliverables include a report including: 1) a summary of project accomplishments; 2) monitoring results including observations of any detected aquatic invasive species with appropriate maps; 3) report on aquatic plant point intercept survey; 4) CB/CW report including time and number of people reached and survey results; daily results will be entered into SWIMS database; 5) Verification of workshops/training such as agendas and attendance lists; 5) Report on pre/post survey of AIS chemical treatment for CLP; 6) Report on turion monitoring;7) Copies of newsletters/education materials paid by this grant; 7) Updated APM plan. Special project conditions: 1) WDNR\2019s Aquatic Plant Management in Wisconsin guidance must be followed for point-intercept survey monitoring and/or aquatic plant management plan development; 2) Sponsor shall immediately contact DNR if a new aquatic invasive species is found. This scope summarizes details provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the AIS Coordinator. It is recommended that Grantee provide AIS Coordinator with a draft final report. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide AIS Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. This Aquatic Plant Management Plan updates the 2007 Long Lake Aquatic Plant Management Plan through 2017. The strategies for controlling curly leaf pondweed, protecting native plant populations, and allowing navigation through aquatic plant beds were updated. A strategy for preventing establishment of invasive species was developed with this update. The plan includes data about the plant community, watershed, and water quality of the lake. It also reviews a history of aquatic plant management on Long Lake.
