Purpose
Through this free program, volunteers are trained to identify and report occurrences of aquatic invasive species (AIS). Workshop attendees will learn AIS life cycles, instructions on how to organize an effective monitoring team; a timeline of where and when to look for AIS; and instructions on what to do if you suspect that you have found an invasive plant or animal. Hands-on training will be provided. Workshop hosts will provide a monitoring kit at no charge (one free kit per lake). Additional kits and supplies helpful in assisting you in the collection and identification of the plants and animals will be available for purchase. These materials are optional, but many volunteers find them useful. To register, or for more information, contact Jon Motquin, Shawano County AIS Coordinator, at 715-526-4626 or jon.motquin@co.shawano.wi.us.
