CABLE LAKE ASSOCIATION, INC.: Cable Lakes Assn AIS Prevention & Education Program

Purpose

The Cable Lake Association is sponsoring a 2 year AIS prevention and education project. Project activities include: 1) Implement a CB/CW program by inspecting boats and educating public at Cable and Wiley Lake Landings. 2) Recruit and train volunteers. 3) Educate public about AIS by posting landings, distributing educational material to public, and submit articles. 4) Develop an AIS exhibit/ Youth Program. Deliverables include: 1) Final Report summarizing accomplishments/progress of the project including watercraft inspection and lake monitoring report detailing total time and number of people reached. Report will also include summary of educational signage and poster distribution; 2) Daily CB/CW survey results entered into the CB/CW monitoring SWIMS database; 3) Verification of inspector/monitor training such as attendance lists and agendas; 4) Outreach report including development of AIS youth program, description of educational material distribution, copies of news releases, mailings, and materials paid by this grant; 5) Report on AIS monitoring observations of any detected aquatic invasive species with appropriate maps. Special conditions for this project: The project sponsor shall immediately contact proper DNR authorities if a new aquatic invasive species is found. This scope is intended to summarize the detailed scope provided in the grant application and does not supersede grant application specifics. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the DNR Lake/AIS Coordinator. It is recommended that Grantee provide the DNR Lake/AIS Coordinator with a draft final report. The DNR shall receive a paper and electronic copy of the final report.
