SPREAD EAGLE CHAIN O'LAKES ASSOCIATION: North Lake Stewardship Program; Phases 1 & 2

Purpose

The Spread Eagle Chain of Lakes Association is sponsoring phased large scale lake planning grants to study North Lake, in Florence County. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for North Lake. Phase 1 was funded in an earlier grant cycle. Phase 2 project activities include: 1)Volunteer frog and toad monitoring and angler\2019s journal program; 2)Rare species assessment; 3) Watercraft inspections; 4) Status of Wild Rice; 5) Image-based Waterfront Archive; 6) EPA/DNR Habitat Assessment; 7) Water quality monitoring; 8) Quantitative Assessment of Littoral and Riparian areas; 9) AIS awareness and protection; 10) Watershed modeling using WILMs. Project deliverables include: 1) Project data summaries; 2) Completion of Aquatic Plant Management Plan; 3) Completion of Adaptive Lake management Plan. Specific conditions for this project: Project summaries and reports need Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of reports, PI, water quality, watershed, rare species, frog and toad and angler data, a set of aquatic plant vouchers, all maps from project, and all GIS data.
