MONTELLO LAKE P&R DISTRICT: Montello Lake AIS Control & Prevention

Purpose

The Montello Lake Protection and Rehabilitation district is sponsoring a three-year AIS established population control grant focused on the aquatic plant community and the dense stands of AIS that make the lake virtually unusable if not controlled. Project activities include: Apply for WDNR permits for drawdown and public meetings; Whole lake aquatic plant survey; 2013 EWM herbicide treatment; CBCW program; Drawdown; AIS plant survey; 2014 EWM herbicide treatment; Whole lake PI plant survey; Development of final report. Project deliverables include: Maps and data sheets from pre and post treatment PI surveys; Annual report summarizing treatment and vegetation response; Final report summarizing all control methods, a cost benefit analyses, drawdown impact to AIS/native vegetation response and public perception of the drawdown event. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional lake coordinator. Final report needs Department review and approval.
