GREEN COUNTY: Legler School & Pioneer Valley Creeks

Purpose

Cost-share efforts by private landowners within the Legler School Branch & Pioneer Valley streams to control agricultural nonpoint sources of pollution through the installation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) targeting sediment and nutrient loading and to address violations of the NR 151 Agricultural Performance Standards and Prohibitions relating to: manure storage facilities-new/significant alterations, process wastewater handling, clean water diversions, nutrient management, prevention of unconfined manure piles in water quality management areas, prevention of direct runoff from a feedlot or stored manure into waters of the state, and prevention of unlimited livestock access to waters of the state. DNR grant is supplemented by a Gulf Hypoxia grant from the EPA and will provide additional cost-sharing for installation of BMPs, as well as cost-share engineering support by county staff.
