RICHLAND COUNTY: Willow Creek Japanese Knotweed Control

Purpose

Richland County LCD will coordinate a Japanese Knotweed rapid response control project on Willow Creek, a popular trout stream just north of Richland Center. Working with River Alliance of Wisconsin, Southwest Badger RC&D, the Elliot Donnelly Trout Unlimited Chapter, and the department, they will remove existing stands of knotweed, and use herbicide to kill the patches over a 5 year period. Monitoring and repeat treatments will be needed to reach the goal of 100% eradication. The county has applied for a permit under Wisc. Administrative Code NR107, and has contacted a certified applicator to do the treatments near the stream. The county will document the progress and volunteer time, and make this information available on their website.
