TOWN OF HAZELHURST: Upper Kaubashine Lake AIS Early Detection & Response: 2014 - 2016

Purpose

The Town of Hazelhurst is sponsoring an Early Detection & Response project which will focus on surveying, monitoring, mapping, and hand-pulling the new discovery of EWM in Upper Kaubashine Lake, Oneida County. Project activities include: 1) Conduct annual early-season AIS and peak-biomass surveys; 2) Conduct volunteer AIS surveillance monitoring; 3) Control EWM by professional hand-removal efforts; 4) Host a project kick-off meeting; 5) Purchase a GPS; 6) Develop annual maps and letter report. Project deliverables include: 1) EWM survey data and maps; 2) GPS; 3) Annual letter report describing the findings of the early-spring survey, peak-biomass survey, hand-pulling efforts, and guidance for continued control actions. Specific conditions for this project: Annual letter report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of letter reports, all maps, and all aquatic plant and GIS data.
