BIG SAND LAKE PRESERVATION ASSOC: Big Sand Lk Restoration Survey & Expanded Monitoring

Purpose

Big Sand Lake Preservation Association is sponsoring a project to develop and mail a sociological survey to better understand property owners\2019 positions on lake/shoreline restoration and to recruit participants for implementation projects The project also includes some funding for purchasing lab equipment for phytoplankton analysis to support expanding foodweb monitoring. Deliverables include the sociological survey and corresponding results and a summary of equipment purchased and how it was used. Special Condition: DNR\2019s social research scientist must review and approve the draft survey. This scope is intended to summarize the detailed project scope provided in the application and does not supersede those application tasks/deliverables. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Coordinator.

Introduction. A DNR Grant of $3,000 including $1000 in local matching for a Landowners survey, Restoration, and Monitoring. The goal of the Big Sand Lake Preservation Association is to care for the health of our lake. In accordance with this the above sum was awarded with $1,500 received together with $500 awarded upon completion. Matching funds for donated effort in the mount of 1,000 was required. . A survey to understand property ownerÂ’s position on restoration was specified as well as some of the related monitoring efforts that the BSLPA had had proposed.
