BLACK OAK LAKE RIPARIAN OWNERS ASSOC: Black Oak Lake Watershed Protection Program - Phase 3

Purpose

Black Oak Lake Riparian Owners Association is sponsoring a large scale lake planning grant to continue to study Black Oak Lake in Vilas County with a study completion date of December 31, 2008. The project will focus on establishing a baseline of the littoral zone and riparian area condition in order to monitor lake and riparian ecosystem quality and stability in the future for Black Oak Lake. Project activities include: 1) Document the littoral zone and riparian area condition using digital photography 2) Qualitatively document the littoral zone and riparian area using a volunteer-based rapid assessment technique 3) Quantitatively document the littoral zone and riparian area using the USEPA Lake Assessment Procedure along with the WDNR Supplemental Lakeshore Assessment 4) Integrate Phase 3 results into the Black Oak Lake Adaptive Management Plan Project deliverables include: 1) An electronic, image-based waterfront archive that presents geographic data, digital photographic documentation and qualitative assessment results as an appendix in the Black Oak Lake Adaptive Management Plan 2) Report of the USEPA and WDNR quantitative assessment as an appendix in the Black Oak Lake Adaptive Management Plan Specific conditions for this project: - Report needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of appendices and an electronic copy of the image-based waterfront archive
