TOWN OF SAINT GERMAIN: Town of Saint Germain Lake Mgt. Planning Project - Lost Lake

Purpose

The Town of St. Germain is sponsoring nine lake planning grants to study seven lakes in the Town of St. Germain, focusing on the development of Lake Management Plans (LMP) for each of the lakes and a town-wide management plan. An AIS control plan will be developed for Lost Lake and other lakes that may be found to contain AIS. Project activities include: 1) Stakeholder participation \2013 kick-off meeting, stakeholder survey, planning committee formation, planning meetings, wrap-up meeting, news release(s), and newsletter article(s); 2) Water quality sampling and analysis (Secchi, P, Chla, DO, temp, N, conductivity, pH, and calcium); 3) Point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant survey, community mapping and analysis; 4) Curly-leaf pondweed survey; 5) Fisheries assessment; 6) Watershed and shoreland assessment; 7) CB/CW, volunteer AIS monitoring and professional Dreissena monitoring; 8) AIS public awareness activities (applying AIS message to grocery bags, bait containers, placemats, and beverage coasters, informational booth, portable AIS sign, and news releases); 9) Develop individual LMP\2019s and Town LMP. Project deliverables include: 1) Stakeholder survey, news release(s), and newsletter article(s); 2) PI, shoreland, and water chemistry data; 3) Aquatic plant community and watershed maps; 4) Two sets of aquatic plant vouchers per lake; 5) AIS educational materials; 6) Individual LMP\2019s and Town LMP. Specific project conditions: 1) Draft of stakeholder survey must be submitted to WDNR Lake Coordinator for review/approval before sending to public; 2) LMP\2019s need Dept review and approval WDNR Lake Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of LMP\2019s, news release(s), newsletter article(s), stakeholder survey, data from watershed assessment, PI survey, shoreland assessment, and water quality sampling, all project maps and GIS data, and samples or photographs of AIS educational materials, and vouchers.
