Waste Sites are sites that
are located on the same property as a landfill licensed under
Wis. Admin. Code NR500 or on a known historic waste site never
issued a license by the DNR. Prior to constructing or
reconstructing a water supply well, you need to contact DNR for
approval of well construction specifications. You may also need
approval to build or excavate. Please see the documentation below
or contact the DNR Project Manager or DNR File Contact listed at

REPORT FROM TINA BALL @ EXCEL ENERGY E-MAIL OF 5/08/2008;
3/25/08 SPILL AT FT. MC COY
ON 3/25/08 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:45 PM, A HOSE FROM AN XCEL ENERGY LINE TRUCK BROKE AND RELEASED APPROXIMATELY 15 GALLONS OF OIL ONTO THE SOIL AT FORT MCCOY NEAR SPARTA IN MONROE COUNTY.
THE CONTAMINATED SOIL WAS PLACED IN DRUMS (3 DRUMS TOTAL) AND DISPOSED OF IN THE LA CROSSE COUNTY LANDFILL.
NO ONE WAS INJURED AS A RESULT OF THE SPILL, AND NO VISIBLE TRACES OF OIL REMAINED IN THE SOIL. THE SOIL WAS REPLACED WITH BLACK DIRT.
THE SPILL WAS REPORTED TO WDNR?S DIVISION OF EMERGENCY GOVERNMENT BY TINA BALL, SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYST, XCEL ENERGY AT APPROXIMATELY 3:45 PM ON 3/25/08.
