Description of Incident/General Comments |
2/22/22: PRIME FLIGHT REFUELING A UNITED PLANE - OPERATOR ERROR CAUSED A RELEASE. APPROXIMATELY 40 GALLONS WENT TO THE PAVED SURFACE. WITH THE RAIN, SOME WENT TO THE STORM SEWER. 55 SECONDS OF RELEASE. EMERGENCY RESPONSE - CLEANED UP FUEL ON THE PAVED SURFACE. DOUBLE BOOM IN THE STORM SEWER. APPROXIMATELY 5-10 GALLONS INTO THE STORM SEWER. THEY WENT DOWN STREAM TO MAKE OBSERVATIONS - NOTHING OBSERVED. ANY SHEEN IN THE CREEK WOULD BE UNRECOVERABLE DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF RAIN TODAY AND THE RATE OF FLOW, ACCORDING TO GREG FAILEY (GMIA).
CLEANED UP PAVED SURFACE TO THE EXTENT PRACTICABLE. GREG WILL SEND A FOLLOW UP EMAIL. THEY WILL KEEP THE BOOM IN THE STORM SEWER IN PLACE UNTIL THEY NO LONGER SEE ANY SHEEN IN THAT AREA.
NEUMANN REC'D 2ND EMAIL FROM GREG. NO FURTHER SHEEN OBSERVED AND BOOM WAS REMOVED.
2/24: NEUMANN MADE OBSERVATIONS OF DOWNGRADIENT, ACCESSIBLE AREAS OF THE CREEK. DEMINIMUS SHEEN WAS OBSERVED, POSSIBLY RELATED TO THIS RELEASE. WILL MAKE ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS.
3/3: NEUMANN MADE OBSERVATIONS OF DOWNGRADIENT LOCATION. THE ICE HAD MELTED AND DEMINUMUS SHEEN WAS OBSERVED. UNRECOVERABLE AMOUNT.
3/17: NEUMANN MADE OBSERVATIONS. NO EVIDENCE OF SHEEN WAS OBSERVED. BASED ON THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION, IMPACTS WERE ADDRESSED TO THE EXTENT PRACTICABLE AND NO FURTHER ACTIONS APPEAR NECESSARY AT THIS TIME. |
